Cybit, the UK’s leading supplier of online fleet management and telematics solutions, has launched a major upgrade to its cybitfleet.com open platform solution to enable fleet managers to communicate with their mobile workers at a fixed cost using GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) technology. The new solution includes an in-vehicle terminal that enables drivers to send and receive data messages, such as consignment details, directions or job information without incurring the additional costs or limitations normally associated with SMS messaging. The upgraded platform will also offer improved visibility of vehicles, employees and deliveries with live updates to the customers’ web browser every few minutes.
In addition to real-time location-based tracking functionality, cybitfleet.com now has enhanced reporting tools to enable managers to run detailed journey and status reports. This enables managers to generate a range of reports including those for timesheets, detailed historical journeys and exceptions, based on predetermined events such as vehicles leaving a defined ‘geo-fenced’ area or whether the power has been operated for the vehicle’s crane, refrigeration unit or road sweeper brushes.
"The launch of our GPRS-based solution with two-way messaging is a clear demonstration of Cybit's leadership in providing scalable telematics solutions that deliver real business benefits to organisations with mobile workforces," said John Wisdom, Cybit’s Sales and Marketing Director. "Currently most systems rely on SMS messaging for two-way text communication with drivers. This can be costly and restrictive. Now we’re combining real-time tracking with two-way messaging so companies can exchange larger pieces of information with their employees effectively."
Cybit’s GPRS-based solutions are targeted at companies that need regular updates on the position and activity of their workforce in real time, such as transport and logistics companies, couriers and time critical service companies.
