Communications specialist orders Fleetstar-Online to deliver real time fleet management

Cybit, the UK’s leading online telematics service provider, has announced that Central Telecom, the integrated communications specialist, has ordered its comprehensive fleet management system, Fleetstar-Online. Central Telecom will install Cybit's web-based vehicle tracking and asset management solution in 60 of its vehicles driven by its nationwide team of engineers. This will allow Central Telecom to monitor its fleet in real time, and help the company to optimise the utilisation of its mobile assets and workforce.

Central Telecom is one of the UK's largest and most successful independent voice and data specialists. Fleetstar-Online will enable the company to access its vehicle usage, keep up-to-date records on a vehicle's location and monitor the routes taken to various sites throughout the country. This will allow it to minimise costs, not only in terms of running the vehicles and fuel, but also through time savings.

"We required a solution that could supply our Helpdesk teams with information on the real time locations of all our field service engineers. They need the ability to trace the route an engineer takes to a customer's site and they wanted to be informed of any major road works in progress or delays due to increasing traffic volumes," explained Simon Taylor, IT Manager at Central Telecom. "Fleetstar-Online means we can be pro-active when we fix faults or visit customer sites. With the new Cybit solution we can view an engineer's location in real time and quickly establish an expected ETA. We also needed to have the ability to verify claimed business miles through our Global Expenses system and ensure all claimed business miles were indeed business miles."

We were able to have the boxes fitted to each of our company vehicles at our chosen location and with very little effort on our behalf. It was a cost effective and ideal solution for us to choose."

Fleetstar-Online is Cybit’s scalable Internet based vehicle tracking and reporting solution that features real time vehicle tracking, exception reporting, replay mode, customised reports, mileage information, SMS messaging and live traffic information. Fleet vehicles are fitted with a small electronic in-vehicle-unit (IVU) which is tracked by GPS in real-time and data transmitted to Cybit’s online control centre. It provides companies with a cost-effective ASP-based fleet management solution, which offers users anytime, anywhere access to the system via a standard web browser. Fleetstar-Online integrates easily with added value offerings such as Smartnav satellite navigation and the RAC Trackstar Plus stolen vehicle recovery system.
