mapAmobile mobile location service achieves impressive take-up for Cybit

Cybit, the only UK company to offer a complete, end-to-end range of telematics-enabled tracking and asset management solutions, has achieved impressive take-up for its mapAmobile mobile location service following its acquisition of the mobile phone tracking technology at the end of 2004. In recent months, Cybit has registered over 800 new corporate mobile phones to the mapAmobile service, ensuring that a growing number of organisations in key sectors such as the construction, building & cleaning services, security, property and transport markets can locate their mobile workforce at any time of the working day – without interrupting their activities. 

Cybit has also incorporated mapAmobile technology into its Fleetstar-Online Internet-based fleet and asset management solution, providing organisations with the ability to effectively track their entire mobile workforce including drivers, contractors and other employees. mapAmobile mobile phone location information is now accessible on the Fleetstar-Online location page, which can be viewed directly on a standard web browser, providing organisations with a cost-effective alternative to GPS technology.

mapAmobile identifies the location of a mobile phone or GSM modem, and delivers this information via the map on the Fleetstar-Online live positioning page. Organisations can locate a single mobile phone, groups of phones or GSM modems, and view their positions on the mapping system. mapAmobile technology gives an organisation the ability to track its mobile assets without the need to implement a GPS solution and works on the O2, Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile networks.

mapAmobile is ideal for organisations that use sub-contractors or temporary staff to support their day-to-day operations as no additional hardware is needed, and workers who do not use company vehicles can also be located. Once a mobile phone is registered with the service, organisations can track its whereabouts as and when required. This will prove an increasingly important requirement for meeting legislative and Duty of Care requirements.
