EIC implements Fleetstar-Online telematics into its nationwide fleet to achieve predicted cost savings of over GBP1⁄4 million

  • Cybit Professional Services consultancy helps EIC achieve rapid Return on Investment
  • New deployment will enable top British independent mechanical and electrical engineering company to boost productivity and reduce fleet costs
  • Fleetstar-Online replaces telematics incumbent of nine years

Cybit, the UK’s leading online telematics service provider, has announced that EIC, a leading British nationwide electrical and mechanical installation and maintenance company, has implemented Fleetstar-Online into its national fleet of over 160 vans. Cybit’s Professional Services consultancy clearly identified the areas of EIC’s business where cost savings and enhanced productivity could be achieved and then worked closely with EIC to implement the solution and train staff to realise these benefits. Cybit’s consultants have enabled EIC to manage its personal and business mileage more effectively, which will help it achieve a predicted fuel cost saving of GBP274,000.

EIC provides innovation in building services as well as support and maintenance to projects throughout the UK, including national supermarket and brewery chains, multi-storey office blocks, high tech computer suites and aeronautical test facilities. Cybit’s Professional Services consultants conducted extensive training with EIC to match the system against current and future business needs. This has enabled its managers to optimise real-time and historical reporting to maximise fuel economy and validate time sheet processing. In addition, the real-time visibility of every one of its vans gives EIC actual v planned activity monitoring of its engineers to enhance productivity. EIC often has to respond within strict time frames – often as little as 2 hours – to meet time-critical Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and the ability to identify its nearest engineer assists in improving the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) which its clients measure its ability against.

“Cybit has gone the extra mile to ensure that the operational benefits of the Fleetstar-Online solution are transferred into cost savings, and that we have a clear, quick route to achieving them,” commented Ian Lyall, Managing Director, EIC. “The potential savings that we can achieve through Fleetstar-Online could add up to hundreds of thousands of pounds, and Cybit’s consultants have identified precisely where the cost savings are within our business. The reason that they have been able to do this is that they spent time getting to understand the EIC business – it wasn’t a case of installing the solution and leaving us to it, they gave us the benefit of their extensive experience to ensure we can fully optimise our use of the solution.”

“We have been able to continue achieving benefits by having a Cybit consultant on the other end of the phone,” added Charlotte Cooke, Time and Attendance Manager, EIC. “We had an extensive consultation and training period at the outset, and since then we have had a single point of contact at Cybit to give us on-going advice when we need it. We are confident that in the future we will be able to continue developing our use of the system to further benefit our business.”

“Service organisations in the construction and maintenance sectors, such as EIC, face many challenges in their everyday operations – particularly when the business is the size of EIC’s,” commented John Wisdom, Group Sales and Marketing Director, Cybit. “It is essential to have the tools to manage a fleet, achieve SLAs, and ensure that each resource is operating productively. Fleetstar-Online enables organisations to do this, and through our Professional Services consulting, they can enhance those benefits, and achieve them in a shorter time.”

Fleetstar-Online is Cybit’s scalable Internet-based fleet and asset management solution that provides organisations with precisely the level of telematics functionality they require, while also ensuring an easy upgrade path so that it can evolve to meet changing business needs. Fleet vehicles are fitted with a small electronic in-vehicle-unit (IVU) which is tracked by GPS in real-time and then transmits data to Cybit’s online control centre. It provides companies with a cost-effective ASP-based fleet management solution, which offers users anytime, anywhere access to the system via a standard web browser.
