RFID Innovator Mojix® Inc. Named 2009 World Economic Forum Tech Pioneer

  • Mojix Selected as One of 34 Firms Worldwide by Panel of Technology Experts
  • Judging Based on Potential for Long-term Impact on Business and Society

Los Angeles, Calif. -- December 8, 2008 – Mojix®, Inc. has been named a 2009 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum. The Forum Technology Pioneer awards are given annually to companies developing and applying highly transformational and innovative technologies in the areas of energy, biotechnology and health, and IT.

The Technology Pioneer selection committee recognises Mojix's breakthrough RFID technologies, including the Mojix STAR™ system, a revolutionary, UHF passive RFID system that eliminates many of the technical and economic barriers to effective automation of supply chain management and asset tracking. The Mojix system applies a new kind of science based on deep space communications technology to radically change both the utility and economics of using RFID to address many long standing challenges hindering business efficiency, and product and public safety.

"It is a high honour to be one of only 15 U.S. companies and 34 worldwide selected as a Technology Pioneer 2009," said Dr. Ramin Sadr, Mojix Founder and CEO. "We are pleased that the judges recognise the Mojix STAR system as a giant step for RFID, and the first step in a revolution in the way people and businesses will use advanced communications science, sensors and RFID tags to drive a host of previously unthinkable applications that improve both business efficiency and quality of life."

To be selected as a Technology Pioneer, a company must be involved in the development of life-changing technology innovation and have the potential for long-term impact on business and society. In addition, it must demonstrate visionary leadership and show all the signs of being a long-standing market leader – and its technology must be proven. Previous Technology Pioneers include Google, Gridpoint, Infosys, Technorati, and Mozilla Corporation and Nanosolar.

"We congratulate the newly selected Technology Pioneers for their remarkable achievements and welcome them to the wider community of the World Economic Forum," said André Schneider, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the World Economic Forum. "During these difficult times, we are certain that the technologies driven by these visionary companies will contribute to the next wave of growth, with the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit that characterises them."

"We were truly impressed with the quality, quantity and diversity of the applicants this year, thereby making the selection process the most difficult to date," said Kevin E. Comolli, Managing General Partner at Accel Partners. "I would like to congratulate the Technology Pioneers Class of 2009. These companies can be very proud of receiving such a respected and coveted distinction."

Dr. Sadr will participate in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2009 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, from January 28- February 1, 2009, where more than 2000 world leaders and 500 members of the global press community will convene to discuss the most pressing global issues.
