IndiePix to roll out documentary feature film In A Dream across US theaters

  • One of the most emotionally-charged documentary feature films, to be released theatrically by IndiePix and International Film Circuit, Inc. after a hugely successful festival tour. DVD and DVD Direct to follow via IndiePix Films
  • In A Dream is Jeremiah Zagar's honest and moving depiction of his father – a visionary artist – and the effects of his mental illness upon the family
New York, US –  12 March, 2009 – IndiePix, the Internet-based distributor of independent films, has announced that it has made a deal to distribute the award-winning documentary, In A Dream, in theaters across the USA beginning in April 2009. Described by critics as "one of the most honest and emotionally-charged documentaries ever made," Jeremiah Zagar's real-life film follows his father, an eccentric and visionary artist, over a five year period as his life spirals out of control before the family's eyes. In a Dream has only been available on the festival circuit to date, and following its official theatrical release and television premiere in July 2009, will be available to audiences on DVD and DVD Direct in August 2009 .

Over the past 40 years, Isaiah Zagar has covered more than 50,000 square feet of Philadelphia with stunning mosaic murals of tiles, mirrors and vibrant paint. In a Dream documents Isaiah's extraordinary talent but also his turbulent personal life as his family is torn apart as the film progresses. Jeremiah Zagar, Isaiah's own son, chose to document something that few filmmakers would attempt or even consider – his own family. Jeremiah was shocked to discover the man behind the lens and the flaws in his 'perfect' family. For five years he documented his father, his mother, Julia, and his brother, Zeke and the heartache they endured – including issues of infidelity, mental illness, sexual abuse, and addiction – yet not once did he stop filming. One fan who watched the documentary at its world premier described the sentiment behind the film as, "that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger."

For the first time IndiePix is working with International Film Circuit (InFC), providers of theatrical release services, to bring In a Dream to the big screen. "We are delighted to be working in partnership with IndiePix at a time when media consumption patterns are changing drastically," said InFC President, Wendy Lidell.

Ryan Harrington, Head of IndiePix Studios, commented: "In a Dream is one of the most compelling documentaries that IndiePix has ever been part of. It has received tremendous support and admiration across the festival circuit, which propelled it to the shortlist of films that were considered for Oscar nomination this year – it is the perfect film to remind people of the boundaries that independent film continues to cross. It is a fascinating portrayal of love and betrayal that the filmmaker was strong enough to document – even though it was his own family falling apart in front of him.

"This is such a unique and original film that we want to give it as much support as possible and the festival circuit was the perfect way to introduce it to the independent film community. The feedback we've received has been very understanding of the film and its story, and we're excited to launch its theatrical distribution with InFC, making it available to a much wider audience. The message behind the film is an important one and it has really brought a number of taboo subjects to the forefront," concluded Ryan Harrington.
