Jack Pennington Ltd chooses Maginus to support rapid expansion and maintain the highest levels of efficiency and service

Manchester, January 24, 2007 - Maginus, a leading provider of multi-channel retail & distribution software, has successfully completed the implementation of its Maginus 7xa software at Jack Pennington Ltd., a leading UK distributor or electrical and mechanical accessories, fasteners, fixings and tools. Jack Pennington Ltd is using Maginus to manage its back office supply chain, logistics and delivery operations as well as front office sales and CRM functions. Maginus software will help the company maintain the highest levels of efficiency in warehousing and other key processes so it can provide the fast, accurate service its customers need.

Jack Pennington Ltd has grown significantly since its formation in 1974. Today it provides a huge range of products for electrical and mechanical contractors, heating and ventilation installers, and any company with a maintenance requirement for parts and tools. The company chose Maginus software to replace existing systems that weren't providing the flexibility and capabilities it needed.

Simon Mettrick, Operations Director at Jack Pennington, said: "Maginus software provides a wide range of capabilities to help us run the business more efficiently, and offers us plenty of potential to grow and improve our processes as we continue expanding in the future. We're a fast-growing company, and recognised we needed a system that was built on modern architecture and where we could see future development plans. With Maginus, we have a software partner for the long term."

Using Maginus gives the company deep functionality and tight control over back office processes. Jack Pennington's customers often order products that are required urgently, and the company offers a next-day delivery service for orders placed before 5pm. As a result, its back office systems have to support the extremely quick turnaround of orders, with efficient order processing, fast and accurate picking and despatch.

Maginus software is designed for this kind of environment, providing extensive control over the order-to-fulfilment process and maximising throughput without sacrificing accuracy. It also provides greater access to information for managers and staff through a range of reporting tools, and clearly-designed screens for end users. This helps companies maintain efficiency by alerting them to any potential problems as soon as possible.

Maginus is a multi-channel system that supports sales and service over the counter, in the field, by phone and online. Jack Pennington Ltd is taking advantage of this capability to launch a new website early in 2007. This will support existing and new B2B customers with online sales and customer account functionality. It will also make the company's wide range of maintenance products available to consumers.

Beyond that, Jack Pennington Ltd is considering the use of Pocket Maginus. Simon concluded: "We want to push out Maginus functionality to our direct sales staff. With Maginus on a handheld device, they can have key customer, product and inventory information at their fingertips at the point of contact with our customers."

Maginus went live in December 2006 after a tightly controlled implementation that took just five months. The extremely rapid implementation was achieved through a carefully managed project that involved close collaboration between Maginus specialists and Jack Pennington staff. During the implementation the team reviewed existing business processes and adopted best practice where possible, using Maginus' distribution expertise to refine key business processes.
