Ilevo, Netbricks and DS2 extends VoIP offer for Power Line Communications

Paris, 24 February, 2006 - Ilevo (www.ilevo.com), and Netbricks (www.netbricks.com) have announced a partnership to provide integrated enhanced VoIP solutions for power-line communications products based on DS2 (www.ds2.es) technology. The companies have already worked together creating VoIP solutions for the Broadband Power Line BPL access platform that are fully compliant with the popular VoIP SIP standard.

According to Eric Morel, CEO of Ilevo, “We are always extremely positive about the creation of this type of ecosystem in the PLC world. It has helped us to build a SIP based VoIP solution in record time. I look forward to seeing more cutting edge advances in the future”.

DS2 is the consolidated leader in power line communications chips. A partnership with Ilevo, the BPL company of Schneider Electric Group, and a DS2 licensee made perfect sense for Netbricks, the leading provider of software to implement standards-based telecommunications protocols.

Netbricks President, Didier Raffenoux, explained, “the sophisticated software development environment provided by DS2 and Ilevo allowed an easy integration of our SIP-Bricks solution, accelerating time-to-market with an enhanced VoIP solution”.

Jorge Blasco, CEO of DS2 said, “Netbricks is an excellent partner. Their unparalleled knowledge of embedded software for telecoms systems allows us to offer our customers   the solutions that they are looking for today”.

The partners will be working over the coming months to further extend the solutions.  DS2 and Ilevo are major contributors to the recently approved OPERA specification for powerline access (BPL) and in building networks. The OPERA Specification has the support of the Universal Powerline Association (UPA), a group that includes leading PLC equipment suppliers. Partnerships of this type indicate that there is a solid eco-system building up around the standardisation work  supported by UPA (Universal Powerline Association) and OPERA both of which are supported by Ilevo and DS2.  And more technology providers are expected to make similar announcements over the coming months.
