Pindar honoured in Sunday Times PricewaterhouseCoopers Profit Track 100

5 April 2006

Pindar has been named one of Britain's top 100 private companies with the fastest growing profits in the Sunday Times PricewaterhouseCoopers Profit Track 100 league table.

Now in its seventh year, the league table was compiled by Oxford-based research and events company, Fast Track and was published in collaboration with The Sunday Times business section on 2 April 2006. This is the first time that Pindar has been featured in the annual nationwide survey of the country’s most dynamic independent companies. Pindar was ranked 87th in the league in recognition of an impressive profit growth track record and are one of only two print companies in the whole survey. Pindar was applauded for driving up profits by an impressive 54.36% compound annual growth rate over the last three years. The article made particular reference to Pindar’s increased operating efficiency after investing £15m since 2002 to improve their printing equipment.

John Armistead, Pindar Group Financial Director commented: “It’s great to get this sort of recognition for the way the Pindar Group has strengthened over recent years and underpins the decisions (many not easy) relating to the re-structuring and reorganisation that was undertaken at the start of this decade, as well as the commitment to invest heavily in plant and facilities – often at times in contradiction to the perceived wisdom of the industry. But ultimately, a business can only function through its employees and this award would not have been possible without the support and initiative from all of the many business teams that go to make up this diverse and fascinating Pindar Group.”

Ron McMillan, regional chairman for the North at PricewaterhouseCoopers, commented: “It's fantastic to see so many examples of private companies, either family, employee or private-equity owned, and their people delivering sustained profit growth and making a great contribution to both our regional and national economy.”

The Profit Track 100 awards dinner will be held in June honouring the companies on the 2006 league table, who will each receive a personalised certificate.
