Kabira Completes Full Solution Portfolio for Telco Services

  • Kabira covers the complete service lifecycle from creation to provisioning to brokering to charging for delivery of real-time, cost-effective service offerings

San Mateo, CA - November 28, 2006 - Kabira Technologies Inc., a leader in high performance transaction processing software for global enterprises, today announced the availability of the Kabira Service Broker™ solution. This release completes Kabira's Service Creation and Management Solutions Portfolio for cost-effective service lifecycle management.

Telecom Operators understand that effective service lifecycle management is a key driver of their competitiveness and profitability. The capacity to offer new differentiated services will be one of the most important sources of revenue growth over the next two to three years. Thus, Operators must roll out a greater number and variety of services to capture and protect market share as well as increase average revenue per user. However, shorter average service lifecycles and inflexible core transaction networks make rapid implementation of new plans a major business challenge.

With the new Kabira Service Broker joining the Kabira Provisioning and Service Activation™ and Kabira Charging™ in the solutions portfolio, Kabira now supports the end-to-end telco service lifecycle. These solutions are built on the carrier-class Kabira Transaction Platform™ which enables services to run at ultra-high speeds and scale seamlessly in real time at extreme transaction processing rates of thousands of transactions per second. The Kabira Transaction Platform is designed to deliver high availability and always-on protection for real time transactions, data and applications.

"Today's competitive landscape requires operators to be more agile, or they will perish. The telecom market environment has radically changed. We are witnessing a shift by Operators to investments that stress innovative and rapidly developed value-added service offerings instead of simple penetration as a driver of growth," said Jean Louis Hoenen, Vice President Technical Operations EMEA, Kabira Technologies. "Kabira Service Broker answers Telecom Operators' requirements with a solution designed to deliver new differentiated services in days or a few weeks across networks. Combined with our proven service management solutions, we believe Kabira provides Operators with a complete business-driven service creation solution that will increase their level of business agility and competitiveness."

The Service Creation and Management Solutions Portfolio is now complete, and includes:

  • Kabira Service Broker de-couple the service layer from the control layer, and enable the creation of converged services, combining legacy and/or new services. It is designed for use by network operators, as well as by mobile virtual network operators and enablers who can quickly create and control their services for pre- and post-paid subscribers with no network impact. It provides a simple solution for operators’ marketing teams to implement new services. A Web-based service configuration environment means the marketing teams can configure new services without specialist call control expertise, while a powerful run-time engine manages the complexities of doing network connectivity in real time.
  • Kabira Provisioning and Service Activation (KPSA), designed to enable telecom operators to implement new service activation types and new network platforms within extremely short timeframes. KPSA leverages the extreme processing capabilities of the Kabira Transaction Platform to give operators the speed, performance, and flexibility they require to take full advantage of their existing infrastructures as well as integrate convergent networks.
  • Kabira Charging, easily integrates within operators’ IT and network environments, and offers the flexibility required to rapidly integrate new services. The Kabira mediation system is designed to process both offline and online charging flows on the same platform. The solution can scale and process increasing volumes of data and still guarantee a very short response to online charging requests. By integrating the Kabira Charging solution into their network, Kabira believes telecom operators will be able to maximize revenue by efficiently billing for the services they provide both now and in the future.
