AT4 wireless to launch a new Development Tool to test NFC Technologies

Barcelona, Spain, 12 February 2008 - AT4 wireless is launching an Upgrade of its leading test system RIDER, which covers now also testing for one of the currently most promising wireless technologies: NFC (Near Field Communication).

NFC technology allows consumers to perform contactless transactions, access digital content and connect devices with the simplicity of a single touch.

The RIDER NFC test system is the most complete test tool in the market for RFID and NFC technologies operating in the HF band (13,56 MHz). Fully integrated into a one-box test set, the new RIDER tester includes capturing and generation functionalities avoiding the use of digital scopes or arbitrary waveform generators for measuring the most significant RF and Protocol parameters over NFC devices.

The RIDER NFC tester on its first release supports the ISO standards on which the NFC technology is based, i.e. ISO/IEC 14443 Type A & B and ISO/IEC 18092. Beyond that, and in order to cover existing design and verification testing needs beyond the conformance testing scope, an R&D version of this tester is available too.

With the help of the RIDER R&D Tester, the manufacturer of RFID and NFC devices will be able to test their products efficiently by means of performing accurate RF measurements and detailed Protocol analysis over their samples. The RIDER Test System will enable manufacturers to reduce their time to market and launch their products much earlier.

"Supporting this new emerging NFC technology will allow us to complete even more our wide portfolio of test solutions for wireless technologies, especially in the mobile communication field, on which the NFC technology clearly will represent an important innovation," points out Angel Romero, Test Systems Product Manager at AT4 wireless.

"The new RIDER NFC one-box tester represents a very important step for AT4 wireless' business strategy. Integrating different instruments' capabilities into a single box and supporting conformance and R&D testing functionalities will allow us to extend our market objectives beyond the conformance testing business," continues Angel Romero.
