London, October 20, 2008 -- The International RuleML Symposium on Rule Interchange and Applications, (RuleML-2008) is just around the corner! It will be held in October 30/31, 2008 in the Buena Vista Palace in sunny Orlando (Florida), bringing together leading thinkers, innovators, developers, engineers, and practitioners working to apply rules technologies to Web platforms and to leverage rule technologies in practical environments in order to gain competitive advantage and efficiencies for their organizations.

Participants will be offered an exciting venue to exchange new ideas, practical developments and experiences on issues related to the engineering, management, integration, interoperation and interchange of rules and events in open distributed environments such as Enterprise Architectures, the World Wide Web, Event-Driven and Service-Oriented Architectures, etc.

The conference, which will be collocated with The Business Rules Forum (BRF), will feature a strong technical program with several highlight events:

Keynotes presented by internationally renowned experts will cover hot topics in state-of-the-art rule technology:

A Joint Lunch Panel on "Rules on the Web" will be held in conjunction with the co-located Business Rules Forum.

The RuleML-2008 Challenge will award prizes for groundbreaking rule-based tools, use cases, and applications.

Special Invited Sessions will comprise software demonstrations and a lively environment for discussing rule standards and next generation rules technologies.

Industry, demo and scientific research & development papers and presentations, selected in a peer-reviewed fashion by an international program committee, advance and assess the state-of-the-art in event and rule-based systems.

Papers accepted for RuleML-2008 will be published as a Springer LNCS proceedings. A related journal special issue (IEEE TKDE) on "Rule Representation, Interchange and Reasoning in Distributed, Heterogeneous Environments", open to all, has been scheduled.
