IPTV World Series Awards winners announced, PCCW and AT&T clinch two each

27 March, 2009 - The winners of this year's IPTV World Series Awards were announced at a gala dinner ceremony held last night at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London, with AT&T and PCCW each scooping two awards.

AT&T won the 'Most Innovative New Service' award for its 'U-verse Total Home DVR' service, as well as the award for 'Best Subscriber Growth Achievement'. Hong Kong-based telco PCCW won the 'Best Quad Play Service' award for snaap!, while its Chief Technology Officer, Paul Berriman, also picked up the award 'Special Merit Award for Outstanding Industry Contribution'. Ericsson meanwhile collected the award 'Best IPTV Service Delivery Platform or Client Software' for its IMS IPTV middleware.

The BBC won the award 'Best On-Demand Technology for IPTV' with its iPlayer service, while UK firm Miniweb won the award 'Best Interactive Service or Application' for the Miniweb Interactive Service Platform.

'Best Internet TV Technology or Solution' was won by Brightcove's Online Video Platform, while 'Best Hybrid Broadcast-IP Video Delivery Solution' was won by Pace and CANAL+ for the '+ Le Cube' for Canal+; and finally, GoBackTV won the award 'Best Cable IPTV Technology' for its RetroVue Cable IPTV Solution with CMTS-Bypass.

The IPTV World Series Awards are judged by a collection of independent experts, and were expanded this year to include a number of content and operator companies, in order to reflect the full IPTV ecosystem and recognise excellence in IPTV service marketing.
