Universal Powerline Association (UPA) Announces 5th International Plugtest to Certify UPA-based Powerline Communication Technology Products for Global Application

June 8, 2009, London - The Universal Powerline Association (UPA), a leading industry consortium providing a forum for the design and development of interoperable and open specifications for Powerline communications, today announces the launch of the 5th UPA Plugtest event to certify the newest UPA-based Powerline Communication Products.

The Plugtest program is a one-day official UPA Plugtest and Certification event. It will be held on 15th June and fully supports the commercial deployment of the UPA's 200Mbps Powerline Communication technology.

Products that successfully complete the Plugtest will be eligible to display the "UPA Plugtested" label and will be compliant with the Digital Home Standard Specification, UPA DHS v1.0, which guarantees performance, coexistence and interoperability - criteria that further leverages support for UPA-based technology & products in the market place.

"UPA's Plugtest events offer utilities, operators, system integrators, retailers and others a guarantee for the success of their large scale deployments due to the UPA's rigorous testing processes in verifying performance, coverage, coexistence and interoperability of UPA products worldwide," said Daniel Drolet, Chairman of the UPA.

The UPA is inviting product developers to register their products for participation in the Plugtest by 12th June with the UPA Secretariat's office. The certification event hosted by the UPA will take place at the test laboratories of the Polytechnic University, Valencia, Spain and the certification process will be overseen by experts from the Polytechnic Innovation Centre (CPI) and the international test house, ITACA. The UPA will publish a list of its certified products on the UPA website to assist utilities, operators, system integrators, retailers and others in their vendor selection (www.upaplc.org)
