CMiC Open Enterprise v10 Revealed at CMiC Connect 2009

TORONTO – October 7th, 2009CMiC, the leader in providing software solutions for the construction industry, introduced CMiC Open Enterprise v10, the next version of CMiC software, at Connect 2009, CMiC’s 11th annual user conference. More than 230 industry professionals from across North America gathered at the JW Marriot Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona to discuss best practices of CMiC software, network with other CMiC users and witness the unveiling of CMiC Open Enterprise v10.

"I have been to many conferences over the years, but what really separates CMiC from the rest of the companies and conferences is that the content our people are exposed to is 100% relevant to our company,” said Jerad Ferrell, director of IT for Haselden Construction. “It’s a big difference when there are not just a few companies who do what we do, but instead we can turn in any direction and find someone like us who's handling the same challenges that we are faced with.  The customers are great and we're proud to be part of a user community that's so willing to help each other.”

“Connect 2009 was one of our most successful user conferences yet,” said Bassem Hamdy, vice president, solutions, CMiC.  “Given the current economic conditions, it amazed me how our user group, the most technologically progressive collection of individuals in the architectural, engineering and construction industry, came together to share ideas and strategies on how to maximize their investment in CMiC.”

CMiC Connect 2009 was also the stage for CMiC to demonstrate CMiC Open Enterprise v10.  The most comprehensive and most advanced software package ever created for the construction industry, CMiC Open Enterprise v10 combines CMiC’s fully integrated approach with a flexible and open technological infrastructure.  The open aspect of the next version of CMiC software was highlighted by Gord Rawlins, president, CMiC, in his Presidential Keynote, which also included the President and CEO of Vico Software, Mark Sawyer, the Chairman, President and CEO of American Reprographics, K. Suriyakumar and the President and COO of Textura, William Eichhorn.

Sessions throughout the three-day conference demonstrated the new functionality of CMiC software, including CMiC Project Controls and CMiC Experience Manager. “CMiC Project Controls is the heart of CMiC Open Enterprise v10, and has the essential tools that a company needs to run their organization efficiently, including cost and revenue management, change management and forecasting,” said Hamdy. “CMiC Experience Manager takes interoperability to the next level by allowing the CMiC system to connect to outside systems using CMiC RTI, our new XML adaptor. Experience Manager also allows for users to customize the user experience by building their own screens.”

The 2009 Innovation Awards ceremony took place at CMiC Connect 2009, with DPR, JE Dunn and Paric Corporation winning awards for their innovations to CMiC software. All three companies will donate their award money to the charity of their choice. The winners of the CMiC Rewards program also received donations to the charities of their choice. Hardin Construction, Paric Corporation and S.M. Wilson & Co. won CMiC Rewards, which is a program designed to award clients for their continuing support of CMiC software and to help make a difference in the community.

“Moving into its second decade, the goal of CMiC Connect remains unchanged, and that is to create a conversation between our users to enhance CMiC software,” said Bassem Hamdy.  “CMiC’s user community is dedicated to producing the most important, collaborative and productive conference in the construction software industry.  As CMiC and our clients move through these dark economic times towards a brighter future, CMiC Connect will continue to play an important role.”

CMiC Connect 2010 is scheduled to take place at the Palm Beach Ritz-Carlton in Palm Beach Florida, in November 2010.
