New developments to cloud-based OpSuite solution enables SMB retailers to offer click-and-collect service at low cost

  • Cloud-based solution enables smaller retailers to stay competitive and offer services available from heavy-weight retailers like Argos, Next and John Lewis
  • Click-and-collect the 'future of retail' – Frost and Sullivan report

Derby, UK – 30 April, 2013Davidson Richards, retail software specialists, has announced a new 'click and collect' support capability for OpSuite, the cloud-based retail management solution. The capability arrives as click-and-collect is highlighted as the future of retail by analyst firm Frost and Sullivan whose latest report predicts that by 2025, the UK will have the largest online retail penetration in the world with 26% of all retail sales completed through e-commerce. With OpSuite, small and medium-sized retailers can now compete with heavy-weights like John Lewis, Argos and Next by offering customers an integrated click-and-collect service when buying their products. Costs are kept low due to the cloud-based nature of the solution.

60% of online consumers experience problems with delivery such as late, lost or damaged parcels (Which?). Offering a 'click and collect' service helps avoid these problems and puts the consumer in control. Traditionally, click-and-collect services have been the reserve of large-scale retailers with big budgets. However, the cloud-based nature of OpSuite provides retailers with 1 to 100+ outlets with a cost-effective solution to run such a service. All retail operational data is collated in real-time so a customer can order online, opt to collect in-store and find their item waiting for them at the correct time because in-store and warehouse staff have been alerted to the request via their OpSuite retail management dashboard.

"We're at a re-set point for retail" commented Richard Goodley, CEO, Davidson Richards. "One of the biggest causes of online shopping basket abandonment is delivery - it costs too much or will take too long. Online consumers are demanding an alternative and click-and-collect fits the bill. Thanks to the cloud, SMB retailers can now easily integrate a click-and-collect scheme at surprisingly low cost to meet the needs of the omnichannel consumer and stay competitive with the big boys like Waitrose and John Lewis who already doing it."
