T&P Fire Division selects Cybit fleet management solution to help enhance its service capability

  • Cybit’s Fleetstar-Online telematics solution enables real-time visibility of entire fleet
  • Allows T&P Fire Division to identify nearest field service engineer for emergency call-outs
  • Fleetstar-Online replaces incumbent telematics system because of its proven reliability and extensive functionality

Cybit, the UK’s leading online telematics service provider, has announced an order from T&P (Electrical) Fire Division, one the leading fire industry consultancy and engineering companies in East Anglia. T&P Fire Division is to install Cybit’s Fleetstar-Online Internet-based fleet and asset management solution into its 24-strong fleet of vehicles for its field service and installation engineers, replacing the incumbent system of two years. The company will use Fleetstar-Online’s real-time monitoring and reporting capabilities to track the activities of its service engineers and identify the nearest available for a call-out. Working with Cybit will help T&P Fire Division to maintain its Duty of Care commitment to its mobile workers, and help ensure compliance with Working Time Directive regulations.

T&P Fire Division provides fire alarms, emergency lighting and fire suppression equipment, as well as risk assessment consultancy and live fire training, to companies throughout East Anglia. The installation of Cybit’s GPRS-enabled Fleetstar-Online solution into T&P Fire Division’s fleet of commercial vans will help provide an enhanced level of service to T&P customers by giving them real-time updates on response times. Despatch management also allows the company to cut its overall fleet fuel costs by reducing unnecessary journey time.

“Before we bought Fleetstar-Online, we had used telematics in our fleet for around two years, but poor support and a series of faults forced us into a change,” commented Terry Young, Managing Director, T&P (Electrical) Fire Division. “We have seen the market developing and we were keen to extract more value from our telematics investment. From our assessment of the broader telematics market, it was clear that Cybit’s Fleetstar-Online solution would give us all the functionality we required at a very competitive price.

“With Fleetstar-Online we found that implementation was quick and easy, and we’re already starting to appreciate its benefits,” he continued. “We’re finding that Fleetstar-Online can deliver real advantages when it comes to Duty of Care and Working Time Directive adherence. For example, we can now monitor driver overtime to ensure that no one exceeds their set limits.”

“T&P Fire Division is an excellent example of how service sector organisations can use the latest fleet and asset management solutions to help managers make informed decisions on issues such as the Working Time Directive and Duty of Care,” added John Wisdom, Cybit’s Group Sales and Marketing Director. “As an experienced user, T&P Fire Division knew exactly what it needed from a next generation fleet telematics solution, and we’re delighted that they selected our Internet-based Fleetstar-Online solution to help add value to its business going forward.”

Fleetstar-Online is Cybit’s scalable Internet-based fleet and asset management solution that provides organisations with precisely the level of telematics functionality they require, while also ensuring an easy upgrade path so that it can evolve to meet changing business needs. Fleet vehicles are fitted with a small electronic in-vehicle-unit (IVU) which is tracked by GPS in real-time and then transmits data to Cybit’s online control centre. It provides companies with a cost-effective ASP-based fleet management solution, which offers users anytime, anywhere access to the system via a standard web browser.
