SPI selects Cybit to improve management of mobile workforce

  • Cybit’s Fleetstar-Online telematics and fleet management solution will improve SPI's visibility and control of its fleet for significant time and fuel savings

Cybit, the UK’s fastest growing provider of fleet management and telematics solutions, has announced a major order for its Fleetstar-Online solution from Superior Plumbing Installations (SPI) Limited. SPI will install Cybit’s satellite-based in-vehicle units across its mobile workforce of heating and plumbing engineers to track 120 vehicles in real-time and produce detailed historical vehicle activity reports. This improved visibility and control of its fleet will provide SPI with more efficient management, measurable time savings and significantly reduced fuel bills.

As one of the West Midlands’ leading heating, plumbing and maintenance companies, SPI wanted to enhance the visibility of its mobile workforce and improve customer service. Following an extensive review of the marketplace, SPI selected Fleetstar-Online for its low cost of implementation and its advanced functionality. Fleetstar-Online provides SPI with multi-user secure access to fleet management tools via the Internet across its regional sites, including live traffic information, historical reporting of vehicle activities and a real-time location-based vehicle management application so SPI can send the nearest engineer to emergency call-outs. The order follows a number of key wins for Cybit in the gas installation and field service management markets.

Simon Rowland, Director of Field Sales Operations, Cybit, added: "Service management and engineering companies increasingly want to track their mobile workforce, both to improve accountability and to fulfil duty of care to their employees. Fleetstar-Online will give SPI a real return on investment relatively early on in implementation, and because the service is accessed over the Internet, the advanced tracking and reporting functionality is available ‘anytime-anywhere’."

Fleetstar-Online provides companies employing a mobile workforce with cost-effective ASP-based fleet management capabilities and rapid return on investment. Fleet vehicles are fitted with a small electronic in-vehicle-unit (IVU) which is tracked by GPS in real-time and data transmitted to Cybit’s online control centre to be accessed by users over the Internet with a standard web browser. Fleetstar-Online’s ‘anytime, anywhere’ fleet management tools include real-time location-based tracking of vehicles, up-to-the-minute traffic information, route planning and scheduling, historical reporting and analysis, journey replay, exception reporting and SMS capabilities.
