Cybit adds mobile phone tracking into Fleetstar-Online to offer cost effective management of mobile workforce

Cybit, the UK’s leading online telematics service provider, has extended the functionality of its Fleetstar-Online Internet-based fleet and asset management solution with the addition of a powerful mobile phone tracking capability. The latest release of Fleetstar-Online incorporates Cybit’s mapAmobile technology to enable an organisation to track its workforce via their mobile phones in addition to tracking vehicles that are carrying the Fleetstar-Online in-vehicle-unit. The mobile phone location information is accessible on the Fleetstar-Online location page, which can be viewed directly on a standard web browser and offers a cost effective alternative to traditional GPS technology. This allows an organisation to track its employees for a minimal cost – without the need to fit in-vehicle units to all vehicles – which is especially useful when using sub contractors or third parties.

mapAmobile uses the mobile phone network to locate a mobile phone or GSM modem anywhere in the UK in seconds. A list of registered phones is shown on the Fleetstar-Online location page and clicking on a phone will show the worker's location on the adjacent map. It ensures that an organisation's entire mobile workforce, including part time workers and contractors can be effectively tracked to help organisations manage their mobile workforce cost effectively and comply with legislative and Duty of Care obligations. The solution also allows organisations to find the nearest phone to a specific postcode, offering enhanced fleet flexibility as well as visibility.

mapAmobile identifies the location of a mobile phone or GSM modem, and delivers this information via the map on the Fleetstar-Online live positioning page. Organisations can locate a single mobile phone, groups of phones or GSM modems, and view their locations on the mapping system. mapAmobile technology gives an organisation the ability to track its mobile assets without the need to implement a GPS solution and works on the O2, Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile networks.
