Cybit implements £220k telematics solution for Aberdeen City Council to improve refuse collection and street cleansing services

Cybit, the UK's leading online Telematics Service Provider (TSP), has announced a major order for its Fleetstar-Online solution from the waste collection and street cleansing services of Aberdeen City Council. As part of a council-wide initiative to enhance the service for customers, Aberdeen City Council will use the telematics solution to improve the efficiency of its vehicles' routes. The order follows a trial where Cybit's consultants were able to identify likely productivity savings of £300k per year across the whole fleet. The addition of the Data Analyser module will enable Aberdeen City Council to continue these initial benefits in the long term through the identification of trends across years, as well as days and weeks.

A six month trial with the Cybit solution identified that Aberdeen City Council could reduce operational cost by enhancing the productivity of the whole fleet, by ensuring 'on-time' scheduling and route optimisation. These improvements will enable the council to deliver a more efficient service for the citizens and businesses of the city. Aberdeen City Council manages refuse and recycling pick-ups in the city, which service residential properties as well as larger commercial requirements, so the coordination of all routes is critical. In addition, it administers all street cleaning and road sweeping throughout the city, which makes effective management across the fleet a top priority.

We are now working continuously to build upon those initial results and further enhance the efficiency of the service, and the implementation of the Data Analyser module will help enhance this process in the long term.
