Denman Group selects Fleetstar-Online to enhance operational management and cut fuel costs in its FM division

  • Cybit's Structured Implementation Plan (SIP) will help Denman Group achieve rapid Return on Investment
  • Total online visibility will improve measurement of SLAs and compliance with Duty of Care requirements

Cybit, the UK's leading online Telematics Service Provider (TSP), has announced an order for its Fleetstar-Online telematics-based fleet management solution from the Facilities Management division of Denman Group, a leading UK facilities maintenance contractor. The Cybit solution will, for the first time, give all authorised Denman Group employees anytime, anywhere access to location information on its fleet of more than 200 vans and cars over an Internet connection. Cybit's Structured Implementation Plan (SIP) will assist Denman Group in using this new capability to achieve a rapid Return on Investment. Denman and Cybit have conducted driver briefings and will now set KPIs for productivity improvements, timesheet validation and reducing the company's annual fuel costs which are circa £1m. In addition Cybit has undertaken training sessions at Denman offices throughout the UK for Head office and call centre staff.

Real-time visibility and detailed exception reporting will enable the Denman Group to maintain a high level Duty of Care for its drivers. In addition, real-time visibility can be used to benefit Denman Group's customers, which include Sainsbury, the supermarket retailer. Every customer service advisor at Denman Group's call centre is trained on and has access to Fleetstar-Online, and can pinpoint the location of every vehicle in the fleet. This will enable them to meet specific SLAs, such as 4-hour response times for reactive maintenance, and provide their customers with accurate ETAs.

"We're not new to telematics, we've had a legacy system in place for several years, but the real-time, web-enabled visibility of the Cybit solution was a major upgrade, and a key driver in this investment," commented David Weaver, Commercial Director, Denman Group. "Anyone in the company is now able to access vehicle information from their desktops, wherever they are - be it from our Reigate, Sunderland or Manchester offices, or anywhere on the road where they can get an Internet connection. The information is no longer locked away in a single 'control room', it’s free to be accessed by authorised employees wherever they are. This accessibility gives us better tools to reduce fuel costs, verify time sheets, fulfil Duty of Care requirements and ensure that we meet and exceed our Service Level Agreements.

"Cybit's Fleetstar-Online is a market-leading solution, and with the support of its consultants, we are developing a strategy to ensure that we use the detailed information from the system to achieve a rapid ROI. We are looking at fuel savings, as well as other operational efficiencies, and establishing aggressive, yet achievable, targets for cost reduction. This is certainly a highly valuable service, especially when you consider that we spend circa £1 million per year on fuel right now, and with fuel savings alone we could see the system pay for itself," concluded David Weaver.

"Many businesses are aware of telematics, but there is still a large number that don't know what the technology can do for them," added John Wisdom, Group Sales and Marketing Director, Cybit. "Denman Group already has a good awareness of the benefits available through the implementation of a telematics solution, like Fleetstar-Online, and our goal as market leader is to show it the full extent to which it can improve its operational efficiency, and ultimately its profitability. Denman Group is a shining example for other organisations, not just in the FM and construction sectors, but for any business that employs a mobile workforce."
