Cybit, the leading Telematics Service Provider, has launched an initiative into the housing association sector, aimed at streamlining their operations in the face of public sector budget cuts. Cybit will offer consultancy-based services to help housing associations optimise operational activities, strategically reduce expenditure and enable better management of resources, both human and vehicle.

Cybit consultancy will enable housing associations to eliminate unnecessary and wasted journeys, optimise staffing costs and enhance fuel spend analysis. Fleetstar-Online, Cybit's advanced telematics solution, collects and analyses and reports on data. The new Cybit initiative will help housing associations to take this critical information and affect meaningful improvements, such as effective journey planning and dispatch procedures, which increase levels of service and fleet efficiency.

The initiative builds on a number of major orders from housing associations across the country for Cybit's Fleetstar-Online solution. Fleetstar enables the associations to extract business-critical information enabling better planning and management of their mobile workforces in real-time, driving overall service quality improvements at reduced cost.

John Wisdom, Cybit’s Sales and Marketing Director says: "There will be huge pressure on services to do more work for less money. The workforce management needs in the housing sector can be quite complex with employees working across a range of trades and skill sets – which will require an uplift in the systems required to support business efficiency.

"The current financial climate has clearly had an impact on housing associations and as a result, we have launched this initiative to help them to optimise resources and internal processes in order to ride out the recession and counteract any future government cuts," continued John Wisdom.

"Fleetstar's advanced data collection, reporting and consultancy based services will provide the housing associations with invaluable information about their fleets, to drive efficiency targets in the present and inform future resource management strategies."

Fleetstar-Online provides an accurate means of tracking vehicles and analysing performance, which is required as part of a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in housing maintenance and services. Ashfield Homes, Severnside Housing, Cheshire Peaks & Plains Housing, Colchester Borough Homes and River Clyde Homes are amongst the associations already using the technology.

In the private sector, Axis, one of the UK’s leading social housing maintenance and refurbishment companies has also seen numerous benefits from using Fleetstar. Liam Hayes, Performance Management Assistant, Axis commented, "As most of our workload is highly reactive, it is important that we can rapidly deploy our engineers. Fleetstar allows us to see immediately where every one of our vehicles is and to send the closest and best-equipped engineer for the job."

Fleetstar-Online is Cybit’s industry leading, scalable suite of Internet-based Mobile Resource Management (MRM) and vehicle tracking tools. The high quality data relating vehicle and job performance is captured in conjunction with location information reported and analysed through Fleetstar. This allows meaningful business decisions to be made using up to the minute information on operational performance.

Powerful reporting capabilities facilitate effective management of operational costs and productivity; support strategic initiatives around Carbon footprint; and increase compliance with legislation including Duty of Care and Health and Safety. The strategic importance of Fleetstar-generated information extends beyond vehicle tracking into the heart of the enterprise: Fleet derived information can be directly integrated into a range of business systems to improve the efficiency of the entire organisation. Fleetstar provides the business-critical information that organisations need to execute a clear and rapid path to return on investment.
