BillingTree’s Rock Block raises $95,000 for charities as 2,000 pack Pearce Warehouse to hear top Rock Bands

2010 donation more than doubles – mobile payment technology plays role in accepting payments at concert and surrounding events

Phoenix, Ariz. – November 24, 2010 – Over 2,000 concert goers packed Pearce Warehouse to hear Phoenix’s own Claude Mattox and the Screamin’ Javelinas along with The Chad Hollister Band as both opened for Rock-and-Roll legends Night Ranger, Skid Row, and FireHouse at BillingTree’s Rock Block, Saturday November 13. The charity rock festival also included an auction and a raffle for a Harley-Davidson which in itself brought in over $10,000 and whose winning ticket was drawn by Go, the Phoenix Suns Gorilla. All told the event and its surrounding activities raised approximately $95,000 to be shared between two charities: ChildHelp® and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Rock Block and the corporate giving initiative was organized by Phoenix headquartered BillingTree, Inc, one of the nation’s leading on-demand payment processors, who brought together Arizona based Oreganos, Silver Hawk Advisory Group plus Ace Cash Express, Bay Cities Bank, and others to sponsor the event. The Rock Block concert rounded off BillingTree’s first ever user conference, which gathered over 85 companies and 130 attendees from all over the US and globally to discuss developments in electronic payment processing and new trends and products forthcoming in 2011.

The funds raised by Rock Block this year were partially processed using the PaySaber from USA ePay which utilizes an iPhone to create a remote Point-of-Sale for mobile payments. This new technology allowed for sales and donations to be collected virtually anywhere within a Wi-Fi or cellular signal. Donations and sales were collected using six of the PaySaber devices at Rock Block and pre-show supporting events including the Valley Rally, a pre-concert organized ride, a local golf tournament held at The Phoenician, as well as other charity functions including the JDRF Walk held in Tempe on October 30.

"It is so important that whenever possible, local businesses support charities which serve such an important role in our community," commented Scott McCollum, BillingTree's President. "This year’s donation is up over 100 percent from last year’s and we expect Rock block to continue as an annual event with an even bigger following next year."

"It was a privilege to attend the Rock Block event this year," says Martin Drake, Vice President of Business Development at USA ePay. "We are pleased that the PaySaber solution was used to help raise money for two great causes like Child Help and the JDRF organizations."
