Maginus extends its multi-channel retail and distribution offering to provide full integration for mobile and field-based users

Maginus, the specialist provider of multi-channel solutions for Retail and Distribution organisations, has launched Pocket Maginus – a powerful new PDA-based solution that delivers comprehensive Maginus applications support to mobile and field-based users. Running on the latest PDA devices using the Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC operating system, Pocket Maginus particularly targets key retail and distribution applications including sales force automation and sales order entry with real-time stock availability.

By implementing Pocket Maginus across key sales, order entry and service operations, retail and distribution organisations can significantly reduce their duplication of existing back-office processes. For example, this could remove the requirement to re-key sales details taken in the field, customer record updates and service task and activity management updates.

Pocket Maginus’ Sales Force Automation support combines proven Microsoft Outlook features for personal planning and contact management with core Maginus functionality to provide mobile sales staff with a rich layer of sales information. Pocket Maginus enables sales staff to download specific contact information to their PDA and upload changes on demand. Contact details, appointments and trading history can all be made available to help sales staff keep track of existing customer and prospect relationships, providing them with all the tools they need to provide strong customer service.

Enhanced sales support
With stock availability often proving a key issue when closing a sale, Pocket Maginus can provide mobile sales staff with a real-time stock position for any product code that may be held in the local database, read from a bar code or entered manually. Integration with fulfilment operations will also allow sales staff to provide immediate confirmation of promise dates and delivery details. Real-time access to sales order entry data also means that sales staff can optimise their performance by raising quotes and taking orders in real-time either at customer premises, exhibitions, trade shows or on the showroom floor. Once confirmed, fully detailed orders can then be posted in real-time to the Maginus server. All standard Maginus confirmation messages, order reference numbers and bonus points earned can then be confirmed with the customer at the point-of-order.

Pocket Maginus runs on any PDA with the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system, and connects to the Internet via GPRS to access the dedicated Pocket Maginus Web-Service.
