Leading railway supplier completes re-organisation

The Henry Williams Group, a leading manufacturer of railway track and signalling products, has just completed a major re-organisation of its subsidiaries to provide better focus on its rail markets.

The two manufacturing subsidiaries, previously known as Henry Williams Darlington Ltd and Henry Williams Electrical Ltd, have combined and taken the historic name of Henry Williams Ltd. The new Company will now provide specific support teams for the railway industry to differentiate itself from its activities in the highways, control systems and forgings sectors.

The two previous Managing Directors, Barrie Hope and Alan Puddick, will combine within the new structure yet retain responsibility for Forgings & Fabrications and Electrical Projects respectively.

Barrie Hope said “The new structure will enable us to provide a much improved service to our customers by concentrating our efforts in specific market areas. When combined with our recent major investments in the forge and fabrication areas, we will be able to build upon our excellent performance last year.”

Background

Henry Williams Ltd was founded in 1883 in Glasgow and moved to its current Darlington site in 1911. The Company stayed in family ownership through to the third generation when it was sold to its current owner, the Con Mech Group in 1989.

The site was re-organised at that time to create the Henry Williams Group with the two manufacturing subsidiaries. The latest change reverts the manufacturing business to the original trading name of Henry Williams Ltd whilst retaining the immediate parent company, Henry Williams Group.
