GBP 3M EDF Energy Contract Goes Live at Nova Direct Mail

20 June 2006
Nova Direct Mail has gone-live with a major fulfilment contract from EDF Energy, worth an estimated GBP 3 million over the maximum contract term.

EDF Energy, which distributes power to 7.8 million homes and businesses across London, the South East and the East of England, has gone from strength to strength under the EDF Energy name for the last three years.

It has now decided to update its logo and use the EDF Energy name across its 5 million customer supply accounts, replacing the London Energy, Seeboard Energy and SWEB Energy names it has used regionally. Nova Direct Mail has supported EDF Energy in this exercise by helping them to communicate this message to their customers.

The contract involves the production of approx 30,000 complex mailing packs per week. The packs carry EDF Energy’s CRM and Marketing material and there are up to 600 different pack configurations.  Nova holds in stock all the blank pre-printed components of stationery, which are controlled by a computerised storage location program. Orders are placed at the call centre, or from marketing activity, and then directed to Nova. Once received, Nova will personalise the packs and send them direct to the customer the same day. Nova’s in-house software development team have developed specific programmes for EDF Energy which enables them to monitor, track, trace and produce reports on the entire process.

Richard O’Brien, Marketing Operations Manager, EDF Energy says, “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Nova Direct Mail and are confident that we will continue to develop a partnership that will add even greater value to our business in the future. What we value most is that we feel we are more than just another client to Nova - they show that they are genuinely passionate about providing really good customer service and a truly flexible approach. They have proven that they can deliver on whatever we ask of them but also go that extra mile to proactively suggest new ways of improving processes. Ultimately they are helping us to communicate more effectively with our customers whilst ensuring that we do it in the most cost effective way possible. We cannot ask for more than that.”

Andy Fry, Managing Director, Nova Direct Mail says, “We are providing a value-added service to EDF Energy that goes further than the simple production and distribution of direct mail. We are providing a daily response handling and fulfilment service. Stockholding plays an essential part in this process and demand for this bolt-on service is steadily increasing in the industry. We are thrilled that EDF Energy decided to continue our working relationship.”

Nova Direct Mail beat off stiff opposition and won the contract over many of their major competitors. Nova has previously worked for EDF Energy and being selected again is proof of an excellent working relationship. EDF Energy trusts Nova to complete a quality job within time constraints and with critical attention to detail. The contract went live in April this year, is potentially for 4 years and worth an estimated GBP 3 million.

Nova pride themselves on offering a high level of customer service and always ensure the most effective and efficient method of mailing is offered to the customer.

Nova recently celebrated their one-year anniversary in a new 24,000 sq ft state-of-the-art production facility in Burgess Hill. The EDF Energy contract has enabled Nova to make the most of this relocation and utilise the extra space gained. They are currently in talks with several other major blue chip companies with further key contracts in the pipeline.
