RuleBurst® launches innovative, natural language business rule authoring for Microsoft® BizTalk® Server

BOSTON, Mass. - July 12, 2006 - Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference - RuleBurst Limited, the industry leader in business rule capture and analysis, today launched its advanced business rules authoring for Microsoft BizTalk Server. The event occurred at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Boston. RuleBurst now allows information workers - business and policy experts - to develop complex business rules for BizTalk Server using familiar Microsoft Office tools. BizTalk Server rules can now be written in natural language in Microsoft Office Word, intuitive flow diagrams in Microsoft Office Visio and sophisticated decision tables in Microsoft Office Excel.

RuleBurst and Microsoft have collaborated to develop an integrated business process management (BPM) offering centered on Microsoft BizTalk Server technology. The business rules functionality significantly extends BPM capabilities, allowing the automation of complex decision-making tasks. RuleBurst provides a business-friendly, rapid capture front-end to the BizTalk Server business rules engine. The ability to write business rules using standard Microsoft Office tools (Word, Visio and Excel) provides information workers with a significantly enhanced capability to define and maintain very complex rules without a requirement for programming skills. This ownership of business rules by subject matter experts removes the technical bottlenecks which typically delay many software projects, while also delivering robust and powerful analytic, visualization and testing capabilities.

“RuleBurst is an important complement to BizTalk Server for the deployment of business process management solutions,” said Burley Kawasaki, group product manager of the BizTalk Server Group at Microsoft Corp. “Microsoft and RuleBurst have together recognized the potential for the BizTalk Server rules engine to expand its market footprint significantly with enhanced appeal to business users. The relationship between Microsoft and RuleBurst will facilitate this by extending the powerful capabilities of BizTalk Server to non-technical information workers, allowing businesses to become more agile.”

“We are proud to announce RuleBurst rule authoring for Microsoft BizTalk Server,” said Surend Dayal, Chief Executive Officer, RuleBurst. “Microsoft has established BizTalk Server as a compelling platform for business rules execution, supported by a large and diverse partner ecosystem. RuleBurst is pleased to extend BizTalk Server’s appeal from technical users to business and knowledge workers by integrating its world-leading business rules management system with BizTalk.”
