Children's Fashion Europe (CFE) organizes together with FIMI a Roundtable with Euro Members of Parliament or MEPs

Valencia, 10 July 2007 - On the occasion of FIMI, the Spanish international children's fashion exhibition, a "Roundtable on the Challenges Faced by the European Market of Children Products in an Increasingly Global World" took place last Friday 6th of July.

In the meeting were the following issues where discussed: growth in Europe's domestic competitiveness, global Europe Strategy, WTO, emerging markets, European funding and contracts in the textile industry and the Manifesto for European children's fashion and childcare sectors presented by Children’s Fashion Europe to the European Parliament the 5th June 2007.

Besides, the necessity of improving the internationalization to access new markets was emphasized, together with the creation of effective and simple regulations and with the  importance of the technological platforms in order to promote R+D+i.

The above Manifesto includes the latest relevant topics for the sector. Specifically topics such as World Trade Organization Regulations (WTO) and the European domestic market, the adoption of European safety regulations to protect children and the safety guarantee on all the imported products, product design and innovation as priority factor for the sector, support for the internationalization and the creation of a specific Tariff Code for children's clothes, defence of social and environmental conditions already adopted by Europe and the importance of the origin marking.

The gathering was organized with the collaboration of Feria Valencia and Fundación Comunidad Valenciana - Región Europea (FCVRE), that promotes the participation of all sectors present in the Valencian Region in the European Union's policies and a better knowledge of these policies.

The meeting was presented by  Iñaki Mataix, the Chairman of Children's Fashion Europe, and chaired by Ximo Clemente, the "Cinco Días" Representative in the Valencian Region and counted with the support of Rafael Ripoll, Autonomic Secretary of the EU Relations and of cooperation to development of the Valencia region, Joan Calabuig, European Parliament member and José Luis Muñoz, Perspective Manager of the  Fundación Comunidad Valenciana-Región Europea. The meeting was attended by businessman from the sector and with different nationalities present also in the trade fair, several members of the Children's Fashion Europe Board of directors, the collaborator association representatives from the sector such as ANIVEC/APIV from Portugal and ASEPRI from Spain, representatives from the Technological Institute (AITEX) and Feria Valencia and CFE staff.

The Association is focused on Lobby actions to the European Parliament in order to represent the sector, participate in European Projects of R+D+I and organize and collaborate in joint commercial actions to promote and enhance the European product outside the EU borders. For instance, CFE will organize with the collaboration of CPM a fashion show during next edition of  CPM Kid's, in Moscow, to present next 2008 spring-summer collections. Moreover, a Trade Fair exclusively for European children's fashion and childcare in Dubai is being organized as well as a joint commercial participation in next Summer edition of Intermoda Fair, in Guadalajara, Mexico. This actions will allow to consolidate European children's fashion and childcare industry as leader in a medium and high level product.

About Children's Fashion Europe
CFE is a new generation association of supranational scope with a clear market orientation focused on improving its associate's competitive positions. Its activities are complementary to the ones from the national associations, national and regional consortiums.

It was created with the support of 50 companies from Italy, Spain, France and Portugal to tackle common issues brought about by the latest textile industry liberalization on a worldwide level for European business and to maximize the opportunities offered by the new environment.

It is important to highlight CFE established important agreements with ANIVEC/AIP, with Asociación Española de Fabricantes de Productos para la Infancia (ASEPRI) and with the French association La Federation. These agreements add a great value to the development of its activities as a European Committee for the Sector Reflection of Children's Fashion and Childcare. CFE cooperates together with these associations regarding international promotion, development of projects and participation in the elaboration of community regulations related to the children's clothes and childcare sectors. With these collaborations, CFE consolidates more and more as an efficient interlocutor for European companies to the European Institutions and Organizations.
