New York, US - 3rd December, 2007 - Sentenced Home is the American Dream with a different ending. Since it was aired on the PBS series, Independent Lens, earlier this year it has gradually emerged as the top seller in the 3,000 strong catalogue of films from IndiePix, the leading distributor of critically acclaimed and hard-to-find independent films. The film, which was directed and co-produced by Nicole Newnham, follows the lives of Kim Ho Ma, Loeun Lun and Many Uch through the deportation process.

The three young refugees - brought from Cambodia to Seattle as babies - grew up in a tough area. They got into trouble as teenagers, served time in US prison, then straightened themselves out and built a better life as hard working guys bringing up their families. After 9/11 the rules changed and they were automatically deported to spend the rest of their lives in Cambodia - a country they barely knew.

The story tells how the lives of the men, and their families, have been affected by America's changed deportation rules. It provides a very candid look at how a group of ordinary American immigrants are dealing with an extraordinary crisis with humanity and, surprisingly, with humour. The film is available priced from $12.95 from IndiePix on DVD through the IndiePix website www.indiepix.net Readers can click here to see a trailer of this film.

In the words of Bob Alexander, President of IndiePix: "Sentenced Home is a perfect example of how the internet is setting independent film makers free to communicate the warmth and truth of the human condition without the artificial constraints of the commercial film industry. YouTube has shown there is an audience for short non-commercial portrayals of our lives; independent films take the next step by adding meaning to reality."

Nicole Newnham, Co-Producer and Director of Sentenced Home has produced a number of thought-provoking documentaries including The Rape of Europa, which is currently one of the 15 films short-listed for an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary.
