Thorworld Ramp System Cooks Up Fast Unloading For CDA

A combination of a yard ramp and an extending dock leveller from Thorworld Industries Ltd has cut down the turnaround time for trucks unloading finished goods at kitchen appliance manufacturer, CDA Group Ltd.

The 10 tonne capacity Thorworld ramp is positioned inside the good inwards warehouse at the company’s Langar, Nottingham site.

With an overall length of 12,200mm and a useable width of 2,250mm, the ramp is solidly built with a steel superstructure using the latest solid beam technique. It can be raised to a height of 1,680mm.

Fixed to one end of the ramp is an electro hydraulic dock leveller measuring 2,250wide x 2,500mm long. Incorporating a telescopic sliding lip which can be extended up to 500mm and operated to +1.6m and -900mm, it can reach right inside to the floor of the vehicle being unloaded.

The versatile system is used to help unload all the different types and sizes of vehicles that serve the warehouse. These vary from standard container trucks to low-wheelbase Continental-style vehicles whose floors can be as low as one metre above ground

The system can be set up automatically in seconds by the push of a button, allowing fork lift trucks to quickly enter a vehicle to begin unloading.

The platform has a 3,000mm x 3,600mm area, giving ample room for a forklift truck to manoeuvre and extra space to stock products if required. It is fitted with safety rails.

Thorworld also supplied associated dock bumpers and wheel alignment curbs for additional safety and protection of vehicles and the building.

Thorworld mobile yard ramps are ruggedly built and are ideal for the fast loading and unloading of vehicle trailers and containers by fork truck - particularly where there is no raised loading dock.

They are designed and tested to meet the latest European quality and safety standards and directives, as well as bearing the CE mark. Heights range from 890 to 1,680mm, and to keep them in top condition and comply with appropriate legislation, Thorworld provides a comprehensive service and maintenance back-up facility.

Available as light, medium and heavy duty models, with 7,000 kg, 10,000 kg, 12,000 kg or 15,000 kg capacities, they can be purchased outright or rented through the company’s specialist RentARamp operation, with a sale or return option. Bespoke models can also be supplied to meet individual customer requirements.

Thorworld provides a one-stop, single source for a wide range of high quality loading & unloading equipment and loading bay accessories & safety aids, such as: dock shelters & seals, dock levellers, dock plates & boards, dock & vehicle bumpers, wheel chocks and modular loading docks and mobile yard ramps, as well as the Truckloada mobile yardlift and the Dockloada scissor lift platform.
