WEST NURSERIES GROWS KUBOTA TRACTOR FLEET

The saying goes that 'good things come in small packages' and that’s certainly the case for West Nurseries Ltd – both in terms of the seeds they grow and the Kubota compact tractor they use when growing them!

West Nurseries, which specialises in vegetable seed production, replaced its existing B2110 tractor with the latest 22hp B2230 model and says its compact size, together with Kubota’s legendary reliability, were the main reasons for buying the new machine.

The Lincolnshire-based family business was established 30 years ago and principally cultivates its portfolio of seeds within its extensive glass houses complex.

Having previously run the B2110 for more than three years without any problems, as well as a Kubota L3540 mid-range tractor for any heavier work that is required, the nursery was keen to buy another Kubota and the B2230 compact tractor proved perfect for their requirements.

The B2230 is used throughout the year, mainly within the glasshouses, for power harrowing and sub soiling as well as for other general horticultural work.

Offering high power output together with exceptional performance for its class, the 22hp B2230 features a hydraulic independent PTO system, fully hydrostatic power steering, bi-speed turn and four wheel drive as standard.

What’s more, Kubota’s innovative ETVCS engine technology means that emission levels are reduced whilst still providing exceptional fuel economy, with noise and vibration levels kept to an absolute minimum – which makes it perfect for use in enclosed spaces, such as the glass houses.

Commenting on the B2230, Rod West, shareholder of West Nurseries said: "We find that the new Kubota machine is able to lift far more than other tractors, which is great for implement working. It also offers a very user-friendly gear selection and gear change, as well as providing increased operator comfort. And the adjustable steering column is particularly useful when you have different people working with the tractor."

However, Rod West maintains that reliability is the most important factor when buying and using a tractor – and confirms that with Kubota ‘they’ve never had any qualms yet’. Servicing and maintenance is provided by local Kubota dealer, Chandlers (Farm Equipment) Ltd.

Rod West says that the service provided by Chandlers is second to none: "Les Butters is spot on; we get an excellent level of after-care from him and his team."

Kubota machines have a legendary reputation for quality, performance, reliability and ease of operation, with a national network of specialist dealers, such as Chandlers, providing the highest standards of advice and aftersales service.
