INCREASED IP ADOPTION BY CABLECOS SHOWN AT IP&TV WORLD FORUM

15 March 2011 /Targetwire/ – At a time when cable operators are increasingly embracing connected devices and applications, next week’s IP&TV World Forum (22-24 March at London’s Olympia) is set to discuss the opportunities and challenges arising from the implementation of IP-based services for cablecos.

Increased adoption of IP across the industry has led to this year’s show being renamed to highlight and encompass the increasing number of service providers - including cable companies - that are now adopting IP technology, leading the show to focus on hybrid, IP and Connected TV.

Top global companies Cable Europe, Ericsson, Virgin Media and Cisco will come together during the Day One keynote plenary session - combining cable bandwidth with IP flexibility to create compelling consumer service - to discuss the shift to IP delivery of services and the user experience.

Gavin Whitechurch, conference director of IP&TV World Forum, commented: "IP is becoming compelling to an ever increasing group of service providers and utilised for an even wider range of environments. Not only have telcos widely deployed TV services over their IP networks, but cable companies are increasingly adopting IP from the flexibility and addressability it enables.

"The IP&TV World Forum looks at IP-based deployments, and this year brings a greater emphasis to TV business strategies, including content acquisition and management."

The IP&TV World Forum 2011 will feature a comprehensive programme of more than 200 visionary speakers, including over 140 service providers from telcos, cablecos, broadcasters and content providers.
